Goal to accelerate consumer services deployment on advanced platforms

ATLANTA, GA – May 21, 2012 – itaas today announced that it has licensed the Comcast Reference Design Kit (RDK). The Comcast RDK is a pre-integrated software bundle that powers tru2way®, IP or hybrid set-top boxes and includes the CableLabs OCAP Reference Implementation software along with other open source components. “itaas has always focused on accelerating advanced services to consumers,” said Vibha Rustagi, CEO and president of itaas. “In licensing RDK, we will leverage our depth and breadth of experience with industry leading chipsets and middleware platforms making us an ideal partner for providers looking to deploy RDK-based solutions or vendors porting RDK to their hardware.”

The Comcast RDK initiative will provide a streamlined approach to the development and deployment of advanced set-top, gateway, and System on a Chip (SoC) platforms. itaas will offer services and engineering teams to expedite development and time to market.

“Our goal is to make the RDK available to companies such as itaas in order to accelerate development of an advanced software solution throughout the industry,” said Steve Reynolds, senior vice president, CPE and Home Network for Comcast. “Support from itaas and others is helping to pave the way for broader industry adoption and deployment of this platform that enables developers, operators and device vendors to create rich, multi-screen TV home entertainment experiences and bring them to consumers faster.”
