istart
itaas’ istart program is the only developer program in the cable industry of its kind helping application developers/programmers expedite their deployment roadmap.
Application developers require a robust set of tools and support to address technical challenges and maximize efficiency associated with developing iTV applications. The istart program offers a range of developer tools to address these technical challenges, coupled with itaas’ traditional portfolio of value added services. These end-to-end services support the developers in the complete product life cycle, from concept development to post deployment support and maintenance.
To take advantage of the istart program, developers have to register with the itaas istart program. Once registered, and approved by the technology vendor, the developer will be provided with the tools and support required to develop and test the applications. These tools include, SDK, client API, set top boxes, and back end API. Additionally, developers can engage our support team, if necessary.
Under the istart umbrella, itaas offers the following developer programs:
SARA/PowerTV
Cisco’s SARA (Scientific Atlanta Resident Application) guide is currently deployed in millions of set top boxes across America. This program allows developers to build applications that can run on SARA and PowerTV. The SARA/ PowerTV program offers three levels of annual membership:
Runtime-only membership provides developers the software required to load and demo the application on a set-top box in the SA Stand-alone environment (SNFS environment). This membership also allows developers to purchase developer set- top boxes.
Software-Development Kit (SDK) membership includes the features of the Runtime-only membership as well as a set of client application programming interfaces (API). These APIs allow developers to create rich graphical user interfaces, perform client messaging, and use peripheral devices such as keyboards and remotes.
SDK Enhanced membership includes all the features of the SDK membership and includes headend APIs. This allows developers to develop & test complex applications that interface with the headend components such as the VOD or Billing Management System (BMS).
tru2way Axiom
This program is targeted to application developers developing OCAP applications to run on Cisco’s (Scientific Atlanta) Explorer Set-top box series. OCAP applications are written in java, and runs on the Axiom middleware.
SDK membership provides access to PowerTV OS and Axiom Middleware Stack as well as a set of application programming interfaces (API) for application development and management.
TVWorks ETV/EBIF
The TVWorks ETV/EBIF platform is deployed in more than 25 million set top boxes. The ETV developer program is targeted to developers interested in building applications running on TV Works ETV Client for Motorola STBs.
TVWorks ETV membership for ETV incudes the ETV XDK , and includes 6 hours of installation support with the option to purchase additional support.
FourthWallMedia ETV
The FourthWallMedia ETV user agent (RIOT) is for application developers wishing to demo EBIF applications on Scientific Atlanta set-top boxes.
The FourthwallMedia istart membership includes the RIOT application and 6 hours of installation support with the option to purchase additional support.
MDN
This program is targeted to application providers developing flash client applications running on Time Warner Cable’s Mystro Digital Navigator (MDN) running on Scientific Atlanta Explorer Set-top box series equipped with Time Warner Cable’s Mystro Digital Navigator.
SDK membership includes the MDN SDK which includes the MDN Stack along with the Bluestreak Developer Kit also known as the MachBlue Studio for TV (MDN Edition).
ODN
The ODN program is for application developers developing Java based client applications running on Cisco(Scientific-Atlanta) Explorer Set-top box series equipped with Time Warner Cable’s OCAP Digital Navigator.
SDK membership for ODN is only offered with the software development kit.
The istart support team consists of highly skilled and experienced professionals proficient in system architecture, design, development, testing, and integration of iTV applications. istart members can choose a support package based on their requirements.
Additionally, application developers can choose to purchase developer set-top boxes for application development, testing and demoing.
